Shop Local – Eva Bryn Shoetique

The more involved I get with the Pittsburgh blogging community the more I find myself taking pride in this city & everything it has to offer.  Shopping locally, especially from women-owned businesses, has become very important to me.  Through various social & networking events I’ve had the chance to meet some power house women with style, vision & one of a kind boutiques.

I recently had the opportunity to meet Kelly, the owner of Eva Bryn Shoetique.  Kelly has created a chic destination shop 30 minutes north of the city.  The store is full of must-have accessories from designer shoes to on-trend handbags, Oprah’s favorite slippers and cozy layering pieces.  I am so excited to share some of my favorite pieces & what I decided to bring home with me.

“In the walking village of Zelienople, north of Pittsburgh, Eva Bryn Shoetique believes that you don’t have to live in a big city to have access to the latest trends in shoes & accessories.”

I’m a sucker for a great layering piece, so this cutout detail blazer & faux fur wrap were right up my alley.  Though you won’t normally find me in a hat, I couldn’t resist trying on this chic red beret.  With its’ fuzzy pom & detail stitching, it’s the perfect accessory for the holidays.  These beautiful heels I’m rocking are by Lucy Choi, the talented niece of Jimmy Choo.  I was truly surprised at how comfortable they were; I may have to go back for the buckle detail pumps.

Another thing that I love about visiting new boutiques is being exposed to brands/designers I’ve never heard of before.  The flats I’m wearing above are by All Black Footwear, “a fashion forward contemporary shoe brand that combines innovative materials with retro-inspired designs.”  I mean, how cute are these animal printed pointed toe flats?!  Though I didn’t snag any shoes during my visit I did take home this cozy teddy cropped jacket by Lush.

If you’re local to the Pittsburgh area I definitely recommend visiting Eva Bryn Shoetique.  Not only are the associates super friendly & helpful, but the free street parking & nearby restaurants make this destination shop worth your while.

Cozy & Casual Fall Looks

Even though it feels like Mother Nature decided to skip fall and jump right into winter here in Pittsburgh, I am so excited to finally get out my ankle booties, cozy sweaters & layering pieces.  Something about the glow of pumpkins on the neighbors porch steps and the smell of wet leaves on the ground gives me all the feels ♥

Over the weekend I had the chance to cross some activities off of my fall bucket list like wine tasting, hayrides & apple picking, making a home cooked fall-inspired meal & baking apple crisp with the apples from our trip to the orchard.  Of course, all of these activities required cozy fall styles like this new lace-up cable knit sweater & plaid zip-up from Marshalls (pictured below) and this new plaid infinity scarf from my favorite local Ohio boutique Nash Willow Boutique.

Wine Women & Shoes

Last week I had the opportunity to attend Wine Women & Shoes – a “two-part signature event series (that) creates an enhanced atmosphere of giving where community-minded, philanthropic women (and a few good men) gather to sip, shop, savor, and support a worthy cause in an exciting, chic and innovative way.”

I wasn’t sure what to expect since this was my first time attending the event, but I can honestly say that I was blown away.  As I entered the ballroom at the Rivers Casino I was offered a glass of champagne from one of the “Shoe Guys” and encouraged to browse the numerous designer vendors including local clothing, jewelry and sweets boutiques.  Before being seated for dinner I enjoyed wine tasting & finger foods while mingling with other like-minded women.

During the seated dinner there was a fabulous fashion show showcasing clothing from Pure Barre and Serendipity Boutique followed by a live auction and handcrafted desserts.  The benefactor for this years’ event was the Pittsburgh Emergency Medical Foundation which is committed to providing financial support for research and educational endeavors in the field of emergency medicine.

For the event I decided to wear a little black dress, because, well… you can never go wrong with a LBD.   This petite wraparound flounce flare dress from Loft was originally $89.50 but I picked it up on sale for 30% off.  I paired it with statement heels and dangly earrings for a chic, romantic-inspired look that kept me comfortable & stylish.
