Body Positive Swimwear

As a mom in my early 30’s I am still learning to love my body.  It’s a journey.  And, like most women I have good days beaming with confidence and self-love & bad days where I find myself full of self-doubt and insecurities.

Regardless of our size, our stretch marks, our freckles and dimples, we should love our bodies!  As women, our bodies do amazing things.  We should be worshiped, especially by ourselves.

With that being said, I am so excited to share that I’ve recently partnered with Swim Classy to promote body positive vibes and on-trend swimwear!  Swim Classy encourages women to look & feel their best.  They use unedited & untouched photos to promote their swimwear so women can gain confidence as opposed to losing it.  Their suits are not only sexy & on-trend but comfortable and great for any shape & size.

Below I am wearing the Electra Three Piece Suit in a size medium.  I chose to tie the string around my waist but you can wrap it around & knot it in the back or rock it as a choker.  I am always a little uncomfortable with showing my stomach so the high-waist bottom & tie-waist were perfect for me!

“Social media has already been taken over with how us ladies are EXPECTED to look, and if we don’t look a certain way we should feel ashamed. Swim Classy’s goal is to one day override that and create a new trend for women- and that is to LOVE yourself just the way you are!”

Babes Who Brunch

Sundays are by far my favorite day of the week.  It’s a chance to relax from the weekend & mentally prepare for the week ahead.  Sometimes, I even get the opportunity to go out for brunch, which is the best way to spend a Sunday if you ask me.  What can be better than mimosas, cappuccinos & eating breakfast that someone else prepared?

Last weekend a few of my girlfriends & I tried a brunch spot in the Strip District of Pittsburgh called DiAnoia’s Eatery.  DiAnoia’s is a neighborhood gem!  An Italian deli & café by day and a full service restaurant by night.  A hot spot like this calls for a reservation, and even though we had one, we still had to wait a half hour.  However, the manager treated us to mimosas, so I can’t really complain.  Plus, the lemon ricotta pancakes were amazing; I’m still dreaming about them!

My good friend Adrienne from Wanderlust and Wardrobes & I always seem to show up rocking similar looks.  It’s always unplanned, but you know what they say, great minds style alike.  This time, we both chose to wear black floral layering pieces paired with dark wash skinnies and a trench.

With full bellies & happy hearts we strolled around the Strip District and came across some beautiful street art.  This wrap-around floral mural just screams spring, and photo op!  As a blogger, I can never resist a good backdrop ♥

Vacation Vibes

“Life was meant for good friends & great adventures”

My husband & I recently went on a much needed, adults-only vacation with two other couples to Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa.  Getting back to our daily routine took a minute which is why this post has taken me 2 weeks to finally complete… 🙂

We love traveling to Punta Cana!  It’s fairly inexpensive, an easy flight from Pittsburgh and always a good time.  This was our 4th time traveling there together, but our first time at Breathless.  Overall, we had a great experience!  Between the sunny days, the attentive poolside service, the swim-up bar, 11 restaurant options and the late night casino, how could we not have a good time?!

The resort had 11 restaurants to chose from as well as a handful from the sister resort next door Now Onyx.  We only stayed 4 nights & 5 days so unfortunately we weren’t able to try each one.  However, the restaurants we did try were amazing!   Each one started the table with a selection of appetizers & house wine, then we were able to choose from a soup or salad, main course & side dishes.  Our favorite restaurant by far was Coquette which served French cuisine.

Rather than share every outfit I wore on our vacation, I’ve decided to feature my favorite look which is this Off-The-Shoulder Shift Dress from TJ Maxx.  I paired it with an Urban Expressions Crossbody Bag that I purchased through Stitch Fix, strappy cork-heel wedges & a shell necklace from a previous Punta Cana trip.  I am excited to share that I’ve listed this dress on Poshmark for $10.  I only wore it the one time, so it’s in like-new condition.  If you’re interested in this dress or any other on-trend, lightly worn styles be sure to follow me @luraashli

Lastly, the only thing I would change about this trip was the lack of organization.  The resorts we’ve stayed at in the past gave us a quick tour of the resort upon arrival before escorting us to our room, shared a daily itinerary of activities as well as nightly entertainment.  However, this resort was kind of a free-for-all.  We never knew what was actually going on until we came across it i.e. beach volleyball, water biking, dance parties by the pool etc.  Don’t get me wrong, we had an amazing time, but that was the only thing that stood out as being somewhat negative.
