A New Year – A Better Me

With every new year, the outside world encourages us to push a restart button, to reinvent ourselves, to start over with new beginnings.  But, what if we don’t need to be reinvented?  What if we like who we are, what we stand for and what we bring to the table?

This year, instead of making broken promises to myself or becoming something that I’m not, I am embracing the real me.  I don’t want a new me in 2018, I want a better me.  I want my best self! With that being said, I came across this fantastic journal at Marshall’s, The 52 Lists Project – A year of weekly journaling inspiration.  For those that don’t know me, I love making lists so it was like this journal was made for especially me!

The journal is broken into sections by season i.e. winter, spring, summer & fall.  Each week it prompts you to write a list “that will help you discover the beauty, joy, creativity, and power you already have!”  In the words of the author, this journal is the perfect way to “celebrate, enjoy, and take ownership of your life, as each week of the year becomes more thoughtful and vibrant.”

Like I said, I picked this book up at Marshalls for $9.99, but you can also find it at Barnes & Noble, Anthropologie, or on Amazon.  Whether you use this journal or your own blank pages, you’d be surprised at how therapeutic making a list/writing down your thoughts can be.  I won’t be posting about this every week but I will include updates here & there on my progress on becoming my best self.  Stay tuned!

All the fall feels

It’s another dark, rainy day here in Wexford, PA but I have to admit, I love it!  I’m currently cozied up in my morning room sipping fresh hot coffee and admiring all of the colorful leaves outside of our big, curtain-less windows.  Fridays have officially become my favorite day of the week.  Not because it’s the kick off to the weekend, but because it’s the only day we don’t have to rush out the door for school, swim lessons or play dates.  I get to enjoy a few blissful moments to myself while the little man watches cartoons.  It’s the little things…

Anyways, enough about my love for Friday fall mornings.  I wanted to share a quick shot of yesterday’s Outfit Of The Day.  There’s no doubt about it, it is officially fall in Pittsburgh!  Like many other women, fall is my favorite season.  Something about the crisp autumn air & the ability to wear cozy knits, layers & booties.  It gives me all the fall feels!

While in Ohio last weekend I had the chance to stop in a local tanning + boutique which is where I picked the cute, cozy knit top pictured below.  The tanning salon turned boutique was full of on-trend, price conscious styles perfect for fall & winter.  The boutique currently only sells in-store but I heard a rumor they’re looking to branch out online soon.  I’ll keep you posted!

Favorite Thing Friday – Blanket Scarf

What better way to stay warm & stylish this season than with a blanket scarf.  A blanket scarf is exactly what it sounds like…a scarf that’s big enough to serve as a blanket.  This winter-time favorite has many personalities; it truly is the perfect addition to any outfit!

Whether you’re wearing it as intended or taking advantage of its oversized body, this scarf creates a cozy, effortless, ready for winter look.  Below I’ve shared four of my favorite ways to wear this one-size fits all essential.

Scarf: Looped once around the neck, leaving the ends to hang loosely

Shawl: One end tossed over the shoulder, leaving the other end to hang loosely

Blanket: Draped over the shoulders

Cape: Draped over the shoulders & belted at the waist
