Date Night Look

If you’ve read my blog in the past, you know how much I love a night out, especially date night with the hubs.  It’s been a minute since we enjoyed a night out together without little man, so this past weekend we pulled out all the stops!  We dressed our best, grabbed a box of cigars & headed out for a night on the town…

We started our night downtown with dirty martinis & red bull on the rocks; my man doesn’t drink, but still manages to be the life of the party, which is one of the many reasons I love him.  We met friends for dinner at the Grand Concourse, an old railroad station turned restaurant which is “nestled comfortably on the riverfront and overlooking the downtown skyline”.  Afterwards, we ventured to the Rivers Casino for some more drinks, live music & a little gambling.

My outfit of the night is the perfect example of inexpensive & chic.  My skirt & pumps are from Forever 21, my crop top is from TJ Maxx & my faux leather clutch is from Target.  I love fashion on a dime!!!

Denim x 2

Each week Style Collective posts a style challenge and as you guessed it, this week was denim on denim.  I paired my favorite distressed Old Navy Skinny Jeans with this Lacoste chambray top & my olive faux suede ankle booties, also from Old Navy.

After working for Lacoste for nearly 5 years I’ve accumulated quite the collection of button up tops & polo shirts.  Though I hardly wear them anymore, I love to bring this one out of storage every once in a while.  It also looks great paired with black leggings & knee-high Hunter boots or a white cotton midi skirt & wedge sandals.

Friendships & Fashion

“The best kind of friendships are fierce lady friendships where you aggressively believe in each other, defend each other and think the other deserves the world.”

I read this quote recently and it really resonated with me.  It’s so important to surround ourselves with people that bring out the best in us, who encourage us to achieve our goals and follow our dreams, who listen to us , laugh with us and love us for who we are.  Last year I had to take a step back & reevaluate some of the relationships in my life.  It wasn’t easy but important decisions never are.

I am so grateful for the friendships I have formed throughout the years.  From my ride-or-die childhood friends who call me out on my shit, to the moms I’ve met through Moms Club who understand my daily struggles with a toddler, to the women I’ve met through Stitch Fix that have become not only style inspirations but dear friends.

This is also one of the reasons I am so excited to get involved with my local blogging community.  From the Style Collective events I’ve attend and the communication I’ve seen online, the Pittsburgh blogging community is strong and continually growing.  I cannot wait to start attending more events and having the chance to get to know these beautiful women.

If you are interested in getting involved with your local blogging community feel free to reach out!  I’m more than willing to share the steps I took ♥
